et al., 1999; Bornet et al., 2002; Sica et al.,2005) thus more than one marker, likely to bepromising for testing molecular variationbetween parents and checking their F1s. ISSRshave been reported as quite useful markers forrevealing polymorphism in cotton genotypesby Liu and Wendel (2001).Keeping in view the above, the presentinvestigation was planned to study molecularvariation of upland cotton (Gossypiumhirsutum L.) genotypes through molecularmarkers with the following objectives. (1) Tostudy molecular variation in different uplandcotton genotypes using molecular marker(ISSR); (2) To find out the geneticrelationship among different cotton genotypesand their F1s and (3) To know the degree ofgenetic divergence among different cottongenotypes (resistant and susceptible to cottonleaf curl disease).Four parents which included two resistant(GCH 3 and H 1353) and two susceptible (HS6 and RST 9) to cotton leaf curl virus diseaseand their hybrids i.e. F1s were taken for thepresent study. Four cotton genotypes that wereused in this study are presented in Table 1.Young and actively growing leaves of cottonplants were used for DNA extraction.Development of breeding materials
