Sociological status of onion growing farmers in Akola district of Maharashtra, India

The study was conducted in Akola district of Maharashtra, collecting data from 120 onion growers using structured interview schedule. Randomly 24 onion growing farmers were selected from each selected five villages constituted a sample size of 120 farmers. The majority of the respondents (70.83%) found to be middle age group (between 37 to 56 years) with the majority of OBC caste (59.17%) of the selected onion growers, most of the selected farmers (71.67%) were having middle level of education.

Cost, returns and profitability of ber production in Solapur district of Maharashtra, India

Investigation was carried out during the year 2017-2018. For present study multistage sampling design was used in selection of district, tehsils, and village and ber growers. On the basis of high area under ber crop Pandharpur and Sangola tehsils were selected. From selected two tehsils 6 villages were selected purposely on the basis of highest area under ber crop. From each village 8 ber growers were selected. In this way 96 ber growers were selected for the present study. The information collected with respect to expenditures and returns were analyzed in tabular form by using cost concept like Cost –A, Cost- B and Cost – C. Data pertain to the year 2017-2018 The result revealed that Cost – A was Rs. 68694.32 in which share of Cost –B was Rs. 138245.96 while that of Cost – C was Rs. 163719.91. Gross return was found to be Rs. 316217.19 and net profit was Rs. 152497.28. The B:C ratio was 1.74.

Evaluation of different decontamination studies of imidacloprid 17.8 SL on Okra

Okra is the major crop grown all over India. India is the largest producer of okra in the world with the largest productivity. The crop is susceptible to a wide range of sucking pests hence there is an indiscriminate usage of pesticide on okra. A detailed survey was conducted to analyze the pest and pesticide status of okra growing farmers of Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts. The survey reported that the higher number of farmers was found to use imidacloprid 17.8 SL for the management of sucking pests on okra. Different decontamination studies were carried out to evaluate a suitable decontamination method for the imidacloprid residues on okra.

Solar energy technology is very important tool which can lowers worldwide carbon emissions. The present study was conducted in Jaipur district of Rajasthan. There are total sixteen tehsils in Jaipur district of Rajasthan, out of which, two tehsils namely Chomu and Amber were selected on the basis of maximum number of installed of solar pump. Ten villages from each selected tehsils were selected randomly by using proportional allocation technique. One hundred twenty (120) farmers were selected from twenty selected village by using proportional allocation technique.

Migration trend analysis of farmers and agricultural labours in Yadgir district of Karnataka, India

The present study was conducted to know the migration trend of farmers and agricultural labors in Yadgir district of north Karnataka during the year 2014-15. With the help of Karnataka state department of Agriculture and also KALIKA NGO 15 villages were selected from the district and from each village 10 farmers and 10 agricultural labors were selected using simple random sampling thus making a total sample of 300 respondents. The data was collected personally from the respondents using structured and standardized interview schedule developed for the study. The data collected was tabulated and analyzed using appropriate statistical tools.

Profile of Bi-voltine silkworm rearing farmers of Chitradurga district, India

Sericulture is an agro based industry providing lively hood to about seven million of rural people in India. Karnataka has more than 45.35 per cent of the total area under mulberry cultivation contributing over 44.25 per cent of silk produced in the country. The study was conducted in the year 2017-2018 in Molakalmuru, Challakere and Hiriyurtaluks of Chitradurga district in Karnataka. From this district among the 120 respondents were selected.Results revealed that over one-third (36.67 %) of Bi-voltine silkworm rearing respondents belong to middle age category, 30 per cent of Bi-voltine silkworm rearing farmers had PUC level of education. In respect to annual income,39.17 per cent of the Bivoltine silkworm rearing farmers belonged to upto 1 lakh income category. Majority of respondents (60.83 %) farmers belong to high level of risk orientation, majority (59.00 %) of the farmers belong to high mass media participation .More than half (51.67%) of the Bi-voltine silkworm rearing farmers belonged to high extension agency contact and majority (70.00 %) of the Bi-voltine silkworm rearing farmers belong to high extension participation category.

Status and prospects of farm power in Godhra Taluka of Panchmahal district, India

Availability of adequate farm power is very crucial for timely farm operations for increasing production and productivity and handling the crop produce to reduce losses along with enhancing the economic status of the farmers. Thus, it is essential to estimate the farm power requirement so that future strategies may be formulated accordingly. Considering, this study was conducted for Godhra taluka of Panchmahal district by collecting data from secondary sources regarding land holding pattern, animal census, farm power implements used and area under different crops. Data was investigated and concluded that lower hp tractors are preferable in the region as more than 90% tractors were less than 50 hp while power tillers of more than 10 hp are popular. Diesel engines and electric pumps of less than 10 hp have more acceptances. The average land holding size of the taluka is decreasing day by day. It decreased from 2.12 ha to 1.36 ha during 1995-96 to 2005-06. Tractor drawn implements are increasing day by day while manual operated implements are decreasing. Available animal power is decreasing while mechanical power is increasing. Thus, the shift is towards use of mechanical power. In future demand of mini tractors or power tillers will be more as compared to other farm power sources due to continuous decrease in land holding size.

Socio-economic status of farmers in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh: A case study

The present study describes the Socio-economic Status of Farmers in Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh, India. The study area was Badi Blocks of the Raisen district. The information was collected on the source of a personal interview to each of the farmers through a questionnaire. A total sample of 800 farmers was selected randomly from 15 different villages of Badi block during 2017. The study revealed that they are very prosperous and progressive farmers with moderate literacy 75% and knowledge about agricultural methods, including Integrated Pest management 12% and they adopt rice cropping system which includes Wheat, Gram and Tomato with awareness about their improved management practices. By introducing facilities of modern technology, their socioeconomic standard can be further increased.

GIS based site specific major nutrient maps and recommendations for coconut (Cocus nucifera L.) gardens

Spatial distribution of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium were studied from 99 coconut farmers covering 195 acres representing different irrigation situations in Chikkapattanagere of Chikkamagaluru district, Doddaghatta of Davangere district, Siriyur of Shivamogga district and Madhure of Chitradurga district of Karnataka state, India. The gardens selected were aged 20-25 years with varying management levels. The Standard technique of grid method of sampling at 50x50 m spacing was employed to collect soil samples from selected study area at two depths (0-30 and 30-60 cm) with geographical identity by GPS. The soil samples were analyzed for major nutrients by following standard procedure. Across all locations, nitrogen status remained low while that of phosphorus shared medium to high status in equal proportion.

The present study was conducted in Osmanabad district, randomly selected from Marathwada region of Maharashtra state during the year 2018-2019. From Osmanabad district, Osmanabad blocks were selected purposively based on considerable number of respondent as a member of ''Farmer Producer Company''. From one selected blocks, 3 villages were selected randomly based on considerable number of members of Farmer Producer Company. From each selected village, 40 farmers were selected randomly. In this way a total of 120 farmers were considered as respondent for the present study. These selections were done by using simple random sampling method for the purpose of the study.
