.divStyle {margin-left:5px; margin-right:200px; border-style:solid; border-color:blue; font-size:150%;} From the Library of WoweBook.Comptg822 Chapter 18 • An Introduction to Ajax (with JSON)18.4.2 Using Ajax to Retrieve XML from a FileXML is the Extensible Markup Language. Although similar in structure to HTML, XML was designed to transport and store data, whereas HTML was designed to describe the lay-out and looks of the data. With XML you create markup that defines the structure of a doc-ument, but instead of having predefined tags as with HTML, you make your own. The XML tree looks similar to the HTML upside-down document tree, starting with a root ele-ment at the top and branching down to parents, attributes, children, and so on. XML has rules, very XML-specific syntax rules on how to create a “well-formed” document. It is not hard to learn, but if you are unfamiliar with XML, go to the W3C schools Web site where you will find an excellent tutorial at http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_tree.asp.XML data is often stored in external files as plain text. The data in the XML files can be easily exchanged between different programs, applications, and computers. In this chapter we are using Ajax to exchange data between a client and server. In the previous example the server returned a string of text from a simple text file. In this example we will use Ajax to get data from an XML file as an object and use the XML DOM to parse and display the data. And finally, at the end of this chapter, we will use an easier technology, called JSON, to make exchanging and parsing data a little simpler. In fact JSON is said to be rapidly replacing XML because of its easy lightweight data-interchange format. The XML file for the following example, called “bookstore.xml”, is found in Example18.10.

7Taped-based CamcorderiMovie can import video content captured on videotape from miniDV and Digital-8 camcorders. You can connect your camcorder to your Mac using a FireWire cable. You can operate the camera while it is connected using the iMovie controls and then capture the content as the camera plays it. If you have an older camcorder that does not include a FireWire connection, you may have to purchase extra hardware to capture your recordings.Memory-based CamcorderNewer camcorders capture video content on miniDVDs or flash-based or miniature hard drives instead of on traditional tape. iMovie can import video from those as well. These memory-based cameras are advantageous in that you can preview clips quickly because the camera can access the clips directly like a computer accesses files, instead of having to scan through a tape from start to finish. Memory-based camcorders connect using a USB cable.Importing and Organizing MoviesWORKING WITH iMOVIE ’09In order to edit your video clips into an award-winning movie, you must first acquire them.Get Video to Use in iMovie35355555

HOW TO USE TEMPLATE

How to use the attrition program template How to use the attrition program template The purpose of the template is to differentiate a core group of employees who have excelled in past performance and who show signs of probable future excellence. This template is in an easy-to-use format that can be used for summarizing views on a particular employee’s 2 Ps (performance and potential). This template should be used by any manager in the middle or senior management group who has worked with the employee to be assessed for at least 12 months. Managers should use this to assess any employee who has completed at least 18 months of work experience. How to fill in the template: • The employee's Period Served In The Organization information can be obtained from the personnel or HR department of the company. You can devise a cut-off to limit the assessment to employees who can be assessed reliably, the reason being if one has not served at least 12 or 18 months, it would be difficult to judge the performance. • The data for the Section A, Quantitative Performance can also be obtained from the HR department. This should be something that has already been conveyed to the employee and is on record. Higher weightage is given to the later half of the year, to bring in the latest progress shown by employee. For example, if we are in July 2003, the following could be the case Quantitative Performance over last three Half Years (HY) (Performance Rating achieved on a 5-point scale) HY1 (Jan – June 2002) 4.25 (on a 5-point scale) Weightage 20% Wtd Score (4.25 x 20%) 0.85 HY2 (Jun – Dec 2002) 3.75 (on a 5-point scale) Weightage 30% Wtd Score (3.75 x 30%) 1.13 HY3 (Jan – Jun 2003) 4.00 (on a 5-point scale) Weightage 50% Wtd Score (4.00 x 50%) 2.00 Total Wtd Score 3.98 Copyright ©2003 CNET Networks, Inc. You tube marketing domination

YOU TUBE MARKETING DOMINATION

If you look in between 2000 and 2010 you will see how Video (in pink) is starting to become more popular. As the years progress the video traffic grows and the web traffic decreases. © 2012 EasyVideoPayday.comThen where the graph ends in 2010 you will see that video is becoming more popular and gets more traffic than any other source. By looking at how the trend has been going since 2000, it is suggesting that video will only continue to outperform other forms of traffic and the traffic from the web will continue to decline. This graph is a good way of showing how people's interests are in watching videos rather than reading content on web sites. Knowing this data is powerful for making a solid decision about how you should structure your business for its stability and growth for now and in the future to come. Before we begin to start making a video, it is first time to take a look at the offers that we can promote with the video to start building a steady stream of income very quickly.Finding an Offer to PromoteWhen doing video marketing you can promote any kind of offer that you want and still do well. However if you are just starting out and want to see some fast results with your efforts then CPA offers are recommended. And if you really want to see quick money coming in then targeting free CPA offers are even better. When you promote offers like Free iPhone, and all the visitor has to do is enter in their zip code or address, then you will see these convert very well. The other nice thing about these offers is that you can easily receive conversions for these without having to depend on the ranking in Google or YouTube. Even when you simply promote them on social bookmarking sites you will get sales because it is easy to find people who would like to win something free, and getting them to exchange some basic information is not too much to ask for.If you are looking to build a solid stream of income and are willing to do some extra work and take a little longer than you can look into promoting videos for product name keywords and rank them on the first page of Google. You will want to make sure that your keyword is getting a decent amount of searches

Suchcards are often referred to as "I Speak" cards.)Do you post information stating the client's right to a free interpreter? If your agency receives federal funding, it is required to post signage stating that any client withlimited English has the right to an interpreter at no cost. The signage should be multilingual, reflecting the dominant languages spoken by area residents or by clients. How do staff members greet your clients? For a number of cultures, a business-like approach in clinical settings seems rude. Shaking handsmay be unacceptable between men and women from certain cultures. Some clients may avoid youreyes to show respect for authority. So it is important to establish a warm relationship yet remainsensitive to the cultural meaning of physical gestures and behavior. It is also important to speakslowly if clients do not speak fluent English. Talking to the children or other relatives who accompanythe client is important in many cultures. Above all, it helps to smile and show warmth and respect.STRATEGIES FOR CREATING A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENTDecorate your site multiculturally. Here are a few suggestions: You can order a multilingual "welcome" poster. Post miniature flags ofyour clients' home countries. (See the resource section at the end of this guide for information onwelcome posters and flags.) Gather posters from embassies. Look for bright cushions and wallhangings. Collect magazines in several languages. Order multilingual education materials withcolorful pictures. Buy plants. What might work best for your clinic?Take your time! For many cultures in the world, a first meeting in a clinical setting should begin with a pleasantconversation. It can include questions about neutral subjects, putting the client at ease. The goal isto establish a relationship of warmth and trust. Only then is it time to proceed to some of thedelicate questions that surround family planning.Ask your interpreters or other experts about the cultures of your clients.Your interpreter has a wealth of cultural knowledge. You can also consult a local ethnic group.Another idea is to check out some of the ethnic profiles in the resource section of this guide.Acquiring this cultural information can help put clients at ease as you greet and serve them.

and cross-cultural research is that videotapes allow viewers to witnessa volume and variety of classroom lessons that may not be possibleany other way, and to see them in juxtapositions that can generatevaluable insights. For example, depending on the nature of the mate-rial that has been archived, a researcher can, in the span of a day or amonth and without leaving home, become immersed in the elementarymathematics teaching of classrooms thousands of miles away. Alter-natively, the researcher could examine treatments of a particular con-cept, age level, or other element across numerous countries. For U.S.researchers, policy makers, and educators, these external referencepoints allow for deeper insights into U.S. teaching practices, both interms of providing new ideas and in creating greater clarity abouttheir own practices. Hiebert maintains that video allows U.S. educa-tors to “[h]old a mirror alongside contrasting pictures from other countriesto see our own practice more clearly; [and] uncover concrete examplesof alternative practices not imagined within our own culture.”Is It Too Powerful? The convenience with which videotapes can be shared and re-viewed, however remarkable, relates to what has been perhaps theINTERNATIONAL COMPARATIVE RESEARCH IN EDUCATION 11most prevalent concern expressed about video research. Viewingeven one videotaped lesson is a very powerful experience, sometimesdeceptively so. Seeing one—or ten—mathematics lessons in Japa-nese classrooms cannot transform an observer into an expert on teachingin Japan, but it may make him or her feel like one. An observer whodid not already have considerable understanding of Japanese cultureand the structure of education in Japan could easily make unfoundedand possibly incorrect inferences about the lessons, the teachers, thestudents and what they learned, the schools, and many other things.Joseph Tobin referred to this exaggerated sense of confidence about

ptgWorking with VideoIntroductionThe Flash Video Import Wizard lets you import a video clip as a file that is streamed from a Flash server, progressively downloaded from a Web server, embedded (stored in movie) or linked (stored out of movie). It guides you through the steps for the specific deployment method. During the import process, you have the ability to compress the video using user-defined profiles, or preset values, set cue points, and trim excess video. It's important to understand that although Flash can import a video file, it can't make the quality of the video any better than the original. If you receive your video from outside sources, there is little you can do; however, if you're the one shooting the footage, pay close attention to lighting, camera angles, and distractions within the video. The more time and attention you spend taking the video, the better the video will be when imported into Flash. If you do need to tweak a video file, video-editing applications such as Adobe's Premiere (Mac/Win), and Apple's Final Cut Pro (Mac) are excellent choice for the budding movie director. If you have a video-editing application and Flash, you can create a movie against a blue screen and then mask the area out using alpha channel masks. They do this in the movies all the time. The process involves opening the image within a video-editing application, and creating the transparency using a specific color (referred to as blue or green screening), using luminosity levels, or actually creating a mask in an image-editing application such as, Adobe Photoshop, and then importing the mask. When you open the movie in Flash, any other background you place behind the movie will

organisations. Indeed, the formation of cooperation and collaboration partnerships between several small organizations can be, in multiple cases, more efficient by comparison with big companies (Rudberg et al., 2002). This way, the research on supply chain management has turned from an intra-enterprise focus towards an inter-enterprise focus with companies looking for enhanced interoperability between computer systems and applications. Supply chain networks are characterized by different structures such as, business processes and technological, organizational, topological, informational, and financial structures. All are interrelated but following their own dynamics. Thus, in order to ensure a high responsiveness level, the supply chain plans must be formed robustly and extremely quickly in relation to all the structures (Gupta & Maranas, 2003). In fact, with regards to supply chain in the advent of globalization, one of the difficulties enterprises are facing is the lack of interoperability of systems and software applications to manage and orchestrate the different structures involved (Farinha et al., 2007; Jardim-Goncalves et al. 2006a; Panetto et al., 2006). The increasing need for cooperation and collaboration together with the rapid advances in information and communication technology (ICT) have brought supply chain planning into the forefront of the business practices of most manufacturing and service organizations (Gupta & Maranas, 2003). Moreover, there has been a growing interest and research in e-business solutions to facilitate information sharing between organisations in the supply chain network. However, despite enterprise networks and partnerships are desirable, the automation of processes still suffer some problems mainly in integrating Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases, Supply Chain Management - New Perspectives 556 since manufacturers, distributors, designers, retailers, warehouses, often use proprietary solutions which are, typically, not interoperable with another ( Jardim-Goncalves et al., 2007a). The exchange of information and documents between partners often cannot be executed automatically or in electronic format as desirable which creates inefficiencies and unexpected cost increase that might challenge the advantages of the network when not addressed (Brunnermeier & Martin, 1999). With this diffuse range of systems, industry has

The Access TableNow that you have reviewed what type of Excel data format is compatiblewith Access, let’s take a brief look at where the Excel data will be going — theAccess table. Access contains many objects that are very useful in manipulat-ing and presenting data. The table is where the data is stored. Queries, forms, reports, and other Access objects ultimately reference data in an Access table. The Table in the Datasheet ViewIn the sample files for this book, you will find a sample Access database. Openthis database. When the database is open, go up to the application ribbon, select the Create tab, and then click the Table command button. A new tablesimilar to the one illustrated in Figure 1-4 is activated in Datasheet view. You will notice how similar the table is to a blank Excel spreadsheet. Bothare organized by row and column. As with an Excel flat file and indexed list, each row corresponds to a record of data and each column corresponds to afield or a unique data element within the record. As you can imagine, one way to create a table in Access is to start enteringdata in the Datasheet view. You can enter new data fields by entering data inthe cells and pressing the Tab key. Enter a new record by pressing Enter. Thismethod of entry will work if you need to get very small Excel lists into Access. However, there are much more efficient and powerful methods such asimporting and linking, which you will explore later in this chapter. The Table in the Design ViewAt the far left end of the Access ribbon, you will see the View icon.
