APPLYING PROJECT BASED LEARNING IN TEACHING UNIT 15, ENGLISH TEXT BOOK 12, EDUCATION PUBLISHING HOUSE

13Here, I felt the sense that schoolwork is more meaningful when it is notdone only for the teacher or the test. When students presented their work to realaudience, they cared more about its quality. Once again, it is the more, the betterwhen it comes to authenticity and even more important than any other things, all the students could find out the core value of their projects; that is: “Womenis half of the world in terms of their contribution and roles and we need tohighly appreciate and love them” . Additionally, all the students in my classalso had the chance to understand more some sayings about women such as:“women‘s rights is the human rights”(Group 2); “Women make happyhomes”(Group 3); “Good education and being self-confident make womenbeautiful in modern society(Group 4); “A beautiful woman pleases the eyes, agood woman pleases the heart, the first is a jewel, the second is a treasure”(Group 1).III- CONCLUSION1. ConclusionTeaching method is a product connecting theory and practice in order tohelp students acquire knowledge, practice their skills and solve the problems.Changing teaching method, according to me, firstly is changing the phylosophyof teaching. By the end of the lesson, students can find out the core value of theproblem and apply them in to their real life. Besides, changes is also shown asthe role of the teacher from the provider into a consultant; students will fulfilthe demand of knowledge themselves. It is clearly that in my class, with PBL,each unit indeed is appealling to students because they are solving their realproblem in their life. When students practice decision making and deductivereasoning and are exposed to examples from real life, they are able to expandtheir skills, evaluate their options, and think critically. The activities in thissection help students visualize how events actually unfold by having students

LEARN ENGLISH BY LISTENING TO ENGLISH POWERPOINT

LEARN ENGLISH BY LISTENING TO ENGLISH POWERPOINT

Why spoken English is difficult to understand A lot of English learners have trouble understanding what native English speakers say. One reason that real English is difficult to understand is that the English in classrooms and textbooks is very different from how people really speak. Some of the differences include: People use different words and phrases in spoken English than they do in writing. They use slang. They say um, hmm, ah, uh, etc. They skip the word that when using relative clauses. ...and so on. Native English speakers pronounce words differently when they say them together than when you say them onebyone. This is called connected speech. If you only learn English in a classroom, you probably only hear very careful pronunciation. You wont be prepared when someone asks you something that sounds like: Wjoominehandnmethabagovethare? (Would you mind handing me that bag over there?) People talk about a lot of different topics. Some topics are very specialized and uncommon. An English class, textbook, or even a website like PhraseMix cant prepare you for all of the possible topics in the world. The 1 tip for improving your listening So how can you get better at understanding spoken English? The best way to improve is to listen to English. A lot. Theres no way around it; you have to spend hours and hours listening to people speaking English. Listen to things that interest you. If you dont enjoy something, its going to be hard for you to continue. Youll get bored and stop. Other listening tips The amount of listening that you do is the most important thing. But you can also improve the quality of your listening practice. Here are some things to think about: Interactive listening is best. In other words, its better to talk with someone than just to listen to a recorded TV show, radio program, or podcast. When you talk to people live, you listen more carefully, and you also think about how youre going to respond. Dont just listen to the same kind of English all the time. Dont just listen to the news, or only watch TV comedies. Expose yourself to a variety of different kinds of situations and topics. Try listening Prefer English captions to subtitles in your native language. When you read subtitles in your language, it keeps your brain locked into native language mode. English subtitles are good, though. They help you to match words that you know with their natural pronunciations. The 5 best ways to improve your English listening skill (in order) So here are the 5 best ways to improve your English listening skill. These are listed in order. The very best method is 1, the secondbest advice is 2, and so on. Live and work in a completely Englishspeaking environment. Do some kind of sports, hobbies, or other activities with a group of English speakers. Talk oneonone with an Englishspeaking tutor a few times a week. Watch movies, TV shows, and videos in English (with English captions or without subtitles). Listen to English podcasts on a topic thats interesting to you. If youd like more ideas, check out this huge list of 41 unique ways to practice listening to English What do you think? Is there something on there that you dont agree with? Do you know of any other great ways to practice your listening skills? Write about them in the comments

PROPOSAL of The effects of repeated listening on junior English majors’ listening comprehension

PROPOSAL OF THE EFFECTS OF REPEATED LISTENING ON JUNIOR ENGLISH MAJORS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION

1.1. Background of the study Although listening is now well recognized as a critical dimension in language learning, it still remains one of the least understood processes. According to Morley (2001), during the 1980s special attention to listening was incorporated into new instructional frameworks, that is, functional language and communicative approaches. Throughout the 1990s, attention to listening in language instruction increased dramatically. Until recently, there have been several studies of developing listening comprehension, one of which is repeated listening approach. According to Krashen and Dupuy’s findings, repeated listening could increase second language learners’ listening comprehension. It was discovered that repeated listening could help language learners achieve listening comprehension effectively. It is known as a very cheap, useful one to selfenhance listening comprehension. Language learners these days including AGU students, however, still struggle with finding a right method to practice listening and to improve listening comprehension. As a result, there have been AGU students galore, even graduated ones, considering listening skill as the greatest fear in their English learning, which leads them to fall in communication with the others. Knowing the seriousness of this problem, a survey on the effects of repeated listening on junior English ma
