have questions prepared beforehand. Ifyour questions are not answered in thecourse of the interview, be sure to askthem before you conclude. Typically,toward the end of the interview, thepanel will ask whether you have anyquestions. At this point an answersuch as, “No, I think you’veanswered them all” or “No, I can’tthink of anything” is not going tolook good. They expect you to be curious aboutthings, and if you’ve thought this out in advance, it will impress them.Don’t rely on memory for these important questions. Practice asking them outloud before the day of the interview and then jot them down on a 3 × 5 card andbring the card with you to the interview. The interview panel will be impressedthat you put some forethought into the interview process.Before getting into examples ofquestions you might want to ask, wewant to caution you on being tooaggressive with your questioning.Keep in mind that you are theinterviewee. Yes it’s true, you areinterviewing them, too. You want tofind out whether the job is a goodfit. And using your missionstatement as a guide, there arecertain things you must learnabout the position, the school, thedistrict, and so on. But remember to ask your questions in such a way that youdon’t give the impression you’re “taking over” the interview.
